Episode One - Story Tease

So, I've been doing a lot of research lately and trying to come up with a plot for the first episode of Grimlight that stays true to Who, while also telling a unique Victorian-era story, AND showcasing Madame Vastra and Jenny. I stumbled upon an old urban legend - which I actually already knew about but had forgotten - and realised it would be perfect for the Gaslight setting of the series.

The first episode's working title is "The Terror of Spring-heeled Jack," and is based on the stories of the legendary creature. If you're not sure who or what Spring-heeled Jack is, take a looksee at this page, which explains everything. Or, you know, it at least details the history. My own take on Jack is a little different and hopefully integrates it into the Whoniverse well.

My plan for the episode is to re-introduce Madame Vastra and Jenny, their relationship to one another, as well as their relationships to the outside world. One of the hardest things about writing in a setting like Victorian-era London is, you can very easily get bogged down with details. Things as simple as how someone would make a pot of tea could have you running to Wikipedia. While I'm definitely going to make sure the bigger stories stay true to the times, I'm not going to let all the minor things take over the story.

Regardless, I'm hoping "The Terror of Spring-heeled Jack" will entertain, as well as introduce readers to a new and mysterious world, something different to anything else we've seen in Who/Torchwood so far. Now that I have a good story in my head, it won't be long before that pilot script is done.

Was I Being Insensitive Again, Dear?

Welcome to the launch of the Grimlight website!

If you're not sure what Grimlight is, check out the About page. For those that do know why this site is here, whoot! This project is still a work in progress and, while I can't give a definite date on when the virtual spin-off will be ready to launch, I can tell you that I'll be hard at work on it non-stop ('cept for those pesky toilet breaks).

Check out the characters and let me know which one is your favourite so far ("A Good Man Goes To War" gave both Vastra and Jenny a chance to shine). Have a suggestion or want to help out with the project? Let me know!

Also, join the community on the Facebook Page, set up to gain support for a real spin-off! 597 fans and counting!
